Description:
The students will use previously learned knowledge about energy conversion and electrical systems, specifically electromagnetic induction, to learn about the use of regenerative braking systems in a variety of electric vehicles including automobiles, trains and mining equipment. They will investigate and discover how the electric motor is used to drive the vehicle as well as generate electricity during coasting and braking through a hands-on project re-creating the act of regenerative braking.
