Description:
Technological education - Tech Ed, for short - is far more than shop class. In Ontario, it is a hands-on learning ecosystem that stretches from early learning through secondary school, post-secondary education, apprenticeship, and into the workplace. With so many people, programs, and pathways involved, however, understanding how it all fits together can be challenging. Elementary and secondary programs can feel disconnected, educators and industry partners may use different language, and students and families are often left navigating an alphabet soup of course codes, acronyms, credentials, and opportunities. Even within education, we do not always have the same information or understanding at the same time. A Conversation Guide to All Things Tech Ed is designed to bridge those gaps by building shared language and understanding across Ontario’s technological education ecosystem, bringing together the pathways, programs, issues, and questions that shape Tech Ed so that all can have better-informed conversations about where students are, where they can go, and what needs attention next.
